What are Prelude Classes?

Imperfect Prelude classes at Imperfect Music Studio are joyful early childhood music classes for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers, coming to the St. Louis Metro area in 2026.

Classes run in 4-week Tracks, each with a playful theme filled with singing, dancing, and simple instruments. With your registration, you’ll also get a curated Spotify playlist and easy ideas to keep the music going at home (and why it matters!).

How We Learn

At Imperfect Prelude, children learn best through joyful experiences. What looks like simple singing, dancing, and play is actually the foundation of rhythm, pitch, and listening skills. The learning is “hidden in the fun,” giving kids confidence while parents know every activity has a musical purpose.

Sound Bites, Journey Sounds, and Story Stops

At Imperfect Prelude, we make music learning playful and simple. Children:

Explore Sound Bites: bite-sized rhythm and tonal patterns – the building blocks of music
Pause for Journey Sounds: quiet listening to real-world sounds like jingling keys or rustling leaves
Enjoy Story Stops: short picture books that connect music to familiar experiences

Enrollment Options

Prelude classes run in playful 4-week Tracks – themed early childhood music classes exploring subjects like Mountains, Seasons, Animals, or Transportation. Families in St. Louis can choose the level of commitment that fits them best:

Single Track

Register for one 4-week session of our toddler and preschool music classes at a time. Families are welcome to sign up for as many Tracks as they like, exploring a variety of themes at their own pace.

Album Series

Reserve a set of 3–4 Tracks together. Each Album Series includes a take-home instrument, giving children something tangible to keep the music alive at home and extend the joy of family music classes.

Culture Pass

A monthly subscription that includes all 11 Tracks over the course of a year. The Culture Pass creates a true musical soundtrack for your family, helping weave music into daily routines and building a lasting family culture of music through early childhood music education.

Listen to a Sample Playlist

Every 4-week Track comes with its own Spotify playlist so the music doesn’t stop when class ends. Families throughout the St. Louis Metro area love using it for car rides, daily routines, or dance parties at home. And the best part? You’ll learn the songs, which makes it easy to jump in and sing confidently with your child during class.
