From the Rockies to the Gateway Arch: Imperfect Music Studio Is Moving

Updated: Oct 11

After many wonderful years of teaching in Estes Park, Imperfect Music Studio is preparing for a new chapter – we’re moving to the St. Louis Metro area in 2026! While our move is motivated by family, it’s also a big transition that feels full of possibility for the studio..

A New Chapter for the Studio

I’ve taken this transition as an opportunity to do a bit of rebranding — reflecting on the studio’s core values and streamlining a few processes. Here are some of the changes I’m most excited about:

  • Longer lesson times: Allowing time for games, creativity, and exploration.

  • Automated payments: No more last-minute check runs for parents.

  • Journey Check-ins: Regularly scheduled conversations between parent, student, and teacher to reflect on what's work well and adjust what needs refinement.

  • Enrichment workshops: Every other month, students can gather for a fun, collaborative group session exploring subjects we might not have time for in lessons.

  • Imperfect Prelude: Our early childhood music program has been reimagined to better align with Imperfect Music Studio, including enhanced lesson plans and a new business model.

  • A new studio website: The site is now a studio resource, rather than a performer's showcase.

  • Rebranding: An updated logo that better reflects our values. Imperfect Music Studio is still a place where students learn, explore, and create — but “journeying with joy, grit, and grace” captures our ethos even more clearly.

  • Refreshed blog: I’ll start by sharing reflections on what learning music really looks like — how students grow, how families can nurture music at home, and how joy, grit, and grace show up along the way.

At the heart of lessons, nothing will change. Each student’s growth and progress remain the focus. I’ll continue teaching saxophone, clarinet, and piano, using the same method books alongside the supplemental resources my students already love.

Thank You, Estes Park

I have treasured my time in Colorado – performing great music, collaborating with other musicians, and especially working with such wonderful students. You will be very much missed. Thank you for the wonderful memories and I hope that music will be a part of your family for many years to come.

Looking Ahead to St. Louis

Gateway Arch, here we come! Imperfect Music Studio will reopen in the St. Louis Metro area in 2026, likely serving families near Maplewood, Webster Groves, and surrounding communities.

If you’re in the area and looking for a place where your child can grow, explore, and find joy through music, I’d love to connect. Let’s begin this next chapter together — journeying with joy, grit, and grace.
